Diving

Diving is separated into 3 different classifications:

  • Springboard (1m and 3m)
  • Platform (5m, 7m and 10m)
  • Synchronised events for both men and women
Diving requires the athlete to be small, lean and well-muscled.  This body composition provides physical advantages including better mechanical efficiency, increased power-to-weight ratio and a favourable image to diving judges but this type of physique requires careful nutritional planning to avoid nutrient deficiencies through restricted eating.

Topics discussed in the diving fact sheet include:
  • Eating for training
  • Managing body fat levels
  • Hydration management
  • Eating during competition - what to keep handy on deck
  • Recovery post-training and competition: aiding muscular adaptions to exercise
