Nutrient Claims:

No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives; Source of calcium; No cane sugar; Low GI; School canteen approved (green traffic light)

The good news:

  • Convenient, easy on the go snack
  • Great option for kids lunchboxes
  • Low in salt
  • Contains calcium

The not-so good news

  • Sweet taste may not appeal to some people
  • Contains half the amount of calcium and protein per 100ml of plain milk

Bottom Line:

Devondale smoothies are a convenient milk drink with a sweet taste that may appeal to kids. Although a homemade smoothie made from low fat milk and fresh or frozen fruit would be preferable, these make for a good on-the-go option, providing around 1/5 of a child’s RDI of calcium in a single serve.
