Eating Disorder Credential

Overview and prevalence of ED in sport

Disordered eating (DE) and eating disorders (ED) can affect any athlete. A combination risk factors (biological, psychological, socio-cultural, sport-specific, gender-based) put athletes and active individuals at higher risk, compared to non-athlete populations.

Everyone plays a role in the prevention and early intervention of DE/EDs.

Please refer to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) position statement on disordered eating in high performance sport for further information.
