Invitation to take part in a survey on Physique Assessment Practices in High Performance Sport

The project is being conducted by a team of researchers from the Curtin School of Population Health and the School of Allied Health at Curtin University along with researchers from the Australian Institute of Sport, University of the Sunshine Coast, Auckland University of Technology, High Performance Sport New Zealand, and Deakin University.

What is the project about?

The aim of the project is to identify current athlete testing practices related to physique assessment in high performance sport and collect opinions on issues relating to athlete physique, including physique assessment. This research may help identify ‘best practice’ for assessment and data capture.

A unique opportunity to undertake an applied performance nutrition focused PhD is currently available, courtesy of a collaboration between the University of the Sunshine Coast & Dolphins Rugby League. This is a fully funded PhD scholarship opportunity… earn while you learn!

The Opportunity

Announcement of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games has seen a significant increase in investment in performance nutrition support. While this has been amazing, it also comes with a degree of responsibility…accountability for the investment made. This PhD opportunity will explore means of showing impact of delivery of performance nutrition support aligned with best practice. This work has the potential to impact the broader high performance sport network, providing practitioners with the tools to better enable delivery of objective measures of success.

The Person

They are looking for an applied sports nutrition practitioner with a thirst for excellence who is keen to be embedded within a high performance sport environment and have the interpersonal skills to thrive in this unique setting. You’ll need the necessary research prerequisites to be eligible for a PhD scholarship and an interest in showing impact.
